The Ophthalmology Residency Program at Central Asian University, in collaboration with AKFA Medline University Hospital, offers a comprehensive training experience designed to develop highly skilled ophthalmologists. The program provides hands-on experience in diagnosing and treating a wide range of eye diseases, incorporating the latest advancements in ophthalmic surgery and medical research.

The Ophthalmology Residency Program is a 4-year program structured to provide in-depth knowledge and practical skills in all subspecialties of ophthalmology.
Postgraduate Year 1 (PGY-1) – Foundations of Ophthalmology
- Core rotations in general ophthalmology, internal medicine, and emergency care 
- Introduction to ocular anatomy, optics, and visual sciences 
- Hands-on training in basic eye examinations and diagnostic procedures 
Postgraduate Year 2 (PGY-2) – Advanced Clinical Training
- Rotations in cornea, external disease, and uveitis 
- Training in laser treatments and cataract extraction techniques 
- Participation in ophthalmic research and case studies 
Postgraduate Year 3 (PGY-3) – Subspecialty Focus
- Specialization in glaucoma, retina, and pediatric ophthalmology 
- Performing advanced surgical procedures under expert supervision 
- Teaching and mentoring junior residents 
Postgraduate Year 4 (PGY-4) – Chief Residency Year
- Leading clinical and surgical teams in high-level procedures 
- Independent decision-making in clinical and surgical settings 
- Preparation for board certification and international fellowships

Graduates of the Ophthalmology Residency Program are prepared for careers in:

- Bachelor’s Degree / Medical Doctor (MD) qualification

The tuition fee for the Residency Programs at Central Asian University is $50,000 per year. This fee covers:
- Full academic curriculum and clinical training
